Audrey Culbertson, formerly Stultz, grew up in Anacortes. She spent 6 years studying Social Behavioral Science, with a concentration in Sociology, in Monterey, California. Having graduated in 2020 with her degree, she spent some time trying to nail down where she wanted to spend her life. After a couple of semesters in a graduate program for clinical psychology, she decided it wasn’t for her. Her love for understanding, helping, and guiding people was best served outside of the clinical environment. She became licensed to buy and sell real estate in 2020 with the intention to just fill in for her mom, Kristine, as needed.
Audrey quickly learned just how fulfilling real estate was. In 2022 she moved back to Anacortes and decided to pursue real estate full time. Audrey and Kristine realized quickly how much they balance each other in the professional world; Kristine as a mentor for business and how to close deals, Audrey as a calming force to the chaos that can be real estate. For the Lapis Team, Audrey handles the graphic design, aesthetics, estate clean outs, staging, and of course helping buyers find the perfect fit. She finds great joy in everyday being different and takes the challenges of real estate in stride.
On her “off days” (we all know real estate is a 24/7 thing), she sneaks off to find places in Skagit Valley to explore with her husband, Zeke, and dog, Bodhi. Whether it’s jet boating up the Skagit River, heading east to the mountains for a day trip, or taking a boat out on the San Juans; they fill their time with finding new reasons to love where they live. Audrey is also an avid thrifter, if you need local recommendations for a nitty gritty thrift or a curated vintage shop — she’s your girl.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Thrifting, reading, walking, baking, traveling with my husband.
What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
If I wasn't doing real estate, she would open up a flower shop/vintage store.
Do you have a favorite local spot (restaurant, park, coffee shop, etc.) you love to recommend?
A sunny Tuesday in Anacortes is wonderful. It would include getting coffee at Penguin and then head to the Soroptimist thrift store as they open, pop into Thrifty Kitty after, and perhaps visit Red Door Thrift store (if I was really feeling committed). Before dinner time, I would walk around downtown until I ended in front of Dad's Diner for a double smash burger with jojos.
What do you enjoy most about working in real estate?
I really enjoy meeting new people and connecting in unexpected ways. Real estate allows you to connect with someone over such an intimate part of their life, where they call home, and the vulnerability that comes with it. I think I just love learning about the individual human experience. Since Anacortes is a common retirement area, I find it comforting to learn how unique, challenging, and unsuspecting lifes twists and turns can be from people who have lived a lot of their life already.
At Lapis Homes, we believe that great real estate outcomes are built on collaboration, trust, and expertise. Let’s work together to create a smooth, successful real estate experience that meets your goals and exceeds your expectations.
