Last weekend we decided it was time to get out of the house and stretch our legs. We piled into the car and headed to Sharpe Park to hike the Sares Head trail. If you've never experienced the view from the top of this trail, it is a breathtaking one.

For other dynamic views of the islands take the long hike (or drive) up to the Mt. Erie lookout. Washington Park Loop (part of the Washington Trails Association) is around a two mile hike which also has interior trails along with breathtaking maritime views.
If you enjoy hiking, consider buying a home that has access to the ACFL. Homes in the Rockridge neighborhood have fantastic access to the Little Cranberry trail heads. Homes along Whistle Lake Road, Spradley Road and Haddon Road are an easy walk back to Whistle Lake, a beautiful lake that, in the summer is filled with swimmers and has numerous trails. For access to Heart Lake Trails, the Parkside neighborhood is a good choice. The list goes on and on!
Anacortes Community Forest Lands has 50 miles of trails designed for hiking, biking, horseback riding and even motorcycles. For a complete list of trails and maps visit
