Sweet summertime is upon us and what better time to get outdoors and go camping*. Fidalgo Island has numerous campgrounds that cater to different styles of camping; so whether you enjoy tent camping or more comfortable RV camping, there are sites for everyone!
If tent camping is what you're looking for, there are several sites to chose from!
On the south side of Fidalgo Island sits Bowman Bay Campground, part of the Deception Pass State Park system, which has stunning views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. With 20 camping sites (two with hook-ups), the forested campground is walking distance from Bowman Bay Park and minutes from Deception Pass Bridge. Activities around the grounds include hiking trails to Deception Pass and Rosario Beach, kayaking in Bowmn Bay or fishing off the dock.Over on the west end of Fidalgo Island sits Washington Park which offers 73 campsites, all scattered through pine trees and forested hills. Take a walk around the scenic two mile loop where you can enjoy views of the San Juan Islands and Olympic Mountains. Bring your boat and enjoy a cruise around the islands or take a picnic down to Sunset Beach where there is also a playground for the kids to enjoy!If you're more of a RV camper like I am, you can't go wrong with one of the many RV sites on Fidalgo Island!
Fidalgo Bay Resort is the largest RV Park in Anacortes and has 141 full hookups, 5 bay view cabins and a waterfront clubhouse. Alongside the Tommy Thompson Trail, this site boasts beautiful views of Mt. Baker and the San Juan Islands and is still close to downtown for shopping and dining.If you enjoy visiting the casino while camping (wow!), take a look at Swinomish Casino and Lodge RV Park. This newly built 30 full-service site is just minutes from town and offers views of Padilla Bay, the Swinomish Channel, Mt. Baker and the Cascades! You can also take advantage of the outdoor fireplace while sipping on a beverage from 13 Moons restaurant. Sounds like my kind of camping!Happy Camping!
