It was a gorgeous sunny Saturday in January when my friends and I decided to charter a boat for a small, socially distanced birthday celebration. We met at Skyline Marina in Anacortes, where we climbed aboard the Paraclete with Captain Kevin for our two-hour cruise. After setting up the tables with some pretty décor along with a charcuterie board from from local purveyor Salt & Vine, we poured our cocktails and were ready to set sail.
As we cruised out of the marina and into Burrows Bay, we enjoyed gorgeous views of Anacortes, the San Juan Islands, waterfront homes, seals and porpoises. Beautiful, strong currents and rushing waters of Deception Pass made for a thrilling ride, but with Captain Kevin’s expertise paired with the Paraclete’s strength, we safely passed under the bridge and made our return back to Skyline marina.
Chartering a boat with a small group of friends is a great way to see Anacortes and the San Juan Islands from a different perspective, especially if acquiring a waterfront property is on your wishlist.
