Long before European settlers arrived, the Snohomish people inhabited the area now known as Langley. However, by the late 1800s, following the removal of the Snohomish people to the Tulalip Reservation, the village was abandoned. Modern settlement began in the 1890s, and Langley was officially incorporated on February 26, 1913.
