Sifting through rocks, hunting tiny crabs, hearing the gentle waves reach the shore oh how I love the beaches of Anacortes. A beautiful sight year round, Anacortes beaches provide tons of enjoyment even in off season months. Right now is the perfect time to bundle up with a blanket and roast s'mores, catch a sunset or watch the passing ships. Soon the warmer months will be upon us to experience all our beautiful beaches have to offer.
Here are a couple of my favorites:
Seafarers’ Memorial Park
Located downtown next to Cap Sante Marina and within walking distance to downtown Anacortes which features shopping, restaurants, boat tours and overnight accommodations. Seafarers' has public docks, grass for kiddos to run around and a mix of sandy and rocky beaches. Picnic tables, public restrooms and wi-fi make this beach a great place to host a small party. It is a great beach to bring a picnic or have a small party.
Sunset Beach
Situated on the edge of Washington Park, Sunset beach is probably my favorite of the Anacortes beaches. A fun playground for kids, a mix of sandy and rocky shores, and bbq pits make for the perfect hangout to catch the most amazing Anacortes sunset.
Ship Harbor
Home to a state ferry terminal, this historical area just west of downtown is busy year round. Pathed paths along Guemes Channel shoreline make for a beautiful walk to take a glimpse of the other islands in view. It is also great for observing wildlife like deer, rabbits, otters and the occasional orca!
